Prescription Drug Take Back

The Taylor Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force partners with the Taylor Police Department, Taylor Senior Center, Walgreens Pharmacy, Rite Aid Pharmacy, and Par Wick Pharmacy to educate the community around the dangers of abusing prescription drugs.
Each year, the Task Force partners with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Taylor Police Department, Michigan State Police and Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority to host the prescription drug take back events at the Taylor Police Station. Thanks to our educational efforts within the community, over 500 pounds of medication was disposed of in 2017.
In 2013, the Task Force, working with our partner, The Taylor Police Department, received a grant from Rotary International to place a permanent Prescription Drug Take Back Box at the Taylor Police Department, 23515 Goddard Road. Citizens can safely and anonymously dispose of their unwanted, unused prescription medications at the police department. The Task Force also has partnered with surrounding communities to have permanent boxes located in Lincoln Park, Melvindale and Ecorse. The most recent National Prescription Take Back Day, held September 26, was very successful in Taylor.
