About Us

Picture
The Taylor Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force was founded in 1990 by a mother who lost her son to a drunk driver within the city limits. Our goal is to inform, collaborate and organize the community to create a strong quality of life and reduce substance abuse.

Our Mission:

The Taylor Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force is a coalition of concerned persons who are invested in the health, safety and success of the youth of Taylor and our community. We believe in no illegal or high-risk use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs and we support this belief through collaborative, proactive prevention efforts.

Our Vision:
We envision a community where youth and adults are engaged as leaders in the promotion of healthy lifestyles and healthy decision thereby creating a safe environment that fosters the successful transition of youth to adulthood.

Our projects include :
  • Regular Town Hall meetings around issues that are important to the community
  • Ongoing prescription drug take back campaign in partnership with the Taylor Police Department, Michigan State Police and DRANO
  • Hosting community events focusing on bringing families together
  • Creating work groups to address issues that are important to the community  (i.e. education, safety, recreational opportunities, youth access to tobacco and alcohol)
  • Creating Prescription Drug awareness campaigns and hosting and participating in awareness events
  • Creating media campaigns and Public Service Announcements
  • The Annual Drug Free Taylor Celebration
  • Underage Drinking Awareness Campaign
